Gran Canaria’s famously inclusive stance makes it a beacon for LGBTQIA+ visitors and a thriving gay scene has exploded across the island. Gay-friendly hotels, Gran Canaria’s year-round sunshine and a calendar bursting with LGBTQIA+ events wait to greet you.
The island boasts 365 days of cultural fabulousness from the extravagant Carnival to the exuberant New Year’s Eve celebrations, with more gay festivals, classical music, theatre, opera, traditional festivities and open-air concerts crammed in between.
MASPALOMAS PRIDE
Every May, the streets of Playa del Ingles erupt with colour, music and parties. This Gran Canaria pride event – the second largest in Spain – is 10 days of drag shows, international artists and a parade with more than 100,000 participants.
WINTER PRIDE
Maspalomas is at it again for seven days in November! Europe’s last gay pride celebration of the year is packed with live shows, dance sessions, pool parties, drag acts, amazing music, fireworks and a big Pride Walk.
GAY NIGHTLIFE GRAN CANARIA
Gran Canaria’s LGBTQIA+ nightlife is one of the island’s biggest draws, and Playa del Ingles is at its heart. We’ve lost count of the number of gay-friendly nightspots, but one thing’s for sure – you’ll never be bored!
YUMBO CENTRE
By day, a large, family-friendly shopping centre with more than 200 shops and cafes thronging the courtyards and terraces. By night, its 4 storeys of LGBTQIA+ hangouts, throbbing with gay bars, drag shows, restaurants, karaoke – everything you need for a great time. And, it’s just a 10-minute walk from our gay-friendly hotel (Gran Canaria, Playa del Ingles).
GAY BEACH KIOSK #7
The heart and soul of Gran Canaria’s gay beach is Kiosk #7, a buzzy beach bar between the dunes and the Atlantic. Rent a sunbed, strip off your clothes (or keep them on – it’s up to you) and chill. Just look for the rainbow flags, around a 30-minute walk from Sandy Beach.
